Consultation feedback on the proposal to close the Harpenden Bethesda Home

Further to the wider announcement, on Monday, 11th March 2025, of the “Consultation on the closure of the Harpenden Bethesda Home”, the trustees have received a number responses in advance of the closing date and time on Friday, 21st March 2025 at 17:00.

They are currently considering the feedback received to identify concerns, issues and suggestions made in preparing their published response.

In the meantime, there appears to be a number of common themes emerging from the feedback and the trustees have prepared position statements to clarify the issues identified.

The first is a statement regarding the status of the property that the trustees, if it be the Lord’s will, have identified as an alternative care provision for those residents wishing to remain in the Luton area and can be found by clicking here.

The second is a statement clarifying the purpose and relationship of the three different consultations:

  • The legally required staff consultation.
  • Consultations with the residents and their representatives.
  • A wider consultation with supporters and other interested parties.

The third is a statement on Bethesda’s entry criteria that reaffirms its charitable objectives and how the trustees endeavour to fulfil these. This document can be found by clicking here.
